After a hailstorm, the damage to your stronghold isn't always obvious. While bruised shingles are a common sign on sloped roofs, identifying damage on flat roof systems requires a trained eye. This guide provides intel on what to look for on common commercial and residential flat roofs.

Threat Assessment: Modified Bitumen (Mod Bit) Roofs

This video shows examples of roof hail damage on a modified bitumen roof with a silver coating. However, the same concentric circles will help you identify hail damage on a Mod Bit roof with no coating, or on a TPO, or a PVC roof system as well. If you don't see them right away, look on the transition from roof to parapet wall or roof to curb.

On single-ply membranes like TPO and PVC, hail damage often presents as bruising or small fractures in the material. This video shows a clear example of hail impact marks on a TPO roof.
